jornales

for a moment of joy or moments no one pays for, i give myself a ‘jornal’. this makes me rich. try it.

begonias once/wintry day/as if by decree, et. al

begonias once–
by her window waiting
on snow

shorn of its flowers
its name magnolia–
once

wintry day–
caricature of cherry trees
against opaque sky

ah, how it blossoms the Christmas cactus

as if by decree
the poinsettia sheds
a week from Christmas

  3. Love this, Alegria. The different flowers but continuity from verse to verse. The repetition of “once” in the first two verses I think is especially powerful.

    • So happy you love it! It’s one of those days when haiku come writing themselves on the New Post page. If one vistor, but especially you, got interested in two even one of the batch, then the haiku worked! Thank you.
