jornales

for a moment of joy or moments no one pays for, i give myself a ‘jornal’. this makes me rich. try it.

stillness: water as prompt (haiku from my wall at the NaHaiWriMo site)

1.
stillness–
the lotus the pond
and the sky

2.
rain
on tear-stained cheeks
cleansing over and over

Wish you were here!

Today, I’ll be with Vicki McCullough, Jessica Tremblay and Angela Naccarato–we of the Vancouver Haiku Group–and YES, Michael Dylan Welch at Van Dusen Gardens here in Vancouver, BC for the opening of Sakura Japan Days. We have a table for haiku enthusiasts or for those just curious at the Floral Hall. We expect to follow ginko walks with Michael as well as lead some ourselves. He will be on stage for a haiku reading tomorrow. I’ll be there again tomorrow. We also expect to pin on a wall curtain selected haiku we’ve written on Japan.

Wish you were here!

  3. Alegria, I saw your picture at the Cherry Blossom Festival event. You looked glorious. Wish I’d been there, too!

    • Yes, you should have been there!!! The spirit of Japan and haiku pervaded the whole two days. We had fun but felt rueful with reminders of the tsunami. Throughout the two days, a group was collecting messages we may want to send to the victims written on crane origami. I was feasting on yakisoba made by young Japanese chefs the Japanese way so different from restaurant cooking. I regret not having tasted a rice cake wrapped in a cherry leaf though. Michael (Dylan Welch) took those pictures; he just kept clicking away! Try to come by next year! Mil gracias, mi hermana!
