  1. This is very Issa like, though I was I were in on the joke. The “rhythmic trill” implies a kind of light-heartedness and I wonder why the crow is feeling so. Is it just the winter morning? Is there something special about this winter morning?

    • Thanks again, Patrick! You do, as always, catch the weakness in any of my haiku that I often dash off. Yes, what’s missing is the word, ‘rain-washed’ as in:

      the crow
      this rain-washed morning caws
      a rhythmic trill

I understand from a book I’ve been reading on the behavior of birds that crows love it when the ground is soaked by rain; it makes it easier for them to dig for grubs.

Thanks so much again and again!
