in the half-light, searching

for footmarks

  1. This is a suggestive haiku – like a half-told story. If there is no sun, then where does the light come from? The moon? And why search for footmarks? – of a person or an animal? One almost wishes for a companion haiku…

    • Light for me hardly ever seems visible–unless at dawn or sunset, I can’t find the sun. But when it ascends or descends as a red globe, it looks more like a raging moon. A companion haiku? What about …

      shadow on the grass
      then a clink on the flagstone–
